Herman the Worm
From “Wiggles, Jiggles, & Giggles” by Stephen Fite

I was sittin’ on a fencepost (slap knees)
Chewin’ on my bubblegum (continue to slap knees.  At end, noisly chew bubblegum)
Playin’ with my yo-yo,
Do-whap, do-whap, do-whap, do-whap (move hand up and down like using a yo-yo)
When along came Herman the Worm
And Herman was this big (hold fingers up to show about an inch)
And I said “Herman, what happened?” (hold hands up as if to ask “what?”)
A
nd Herman said “Duuuuuuh, I swallowed a bug” (as you say Duuuh, bring head up slowly to look up, then do sign for bug”)
“A bug? Eew! Yuck!” (make yucky face)
But that silly Herman, he didn’t say another word (shake finger back and forth)
He just crawled away
So we have to use our finger to show how Herman crawled (make finger crawl like a worm)

So, the next day
I was sittin’ on a fencepost (slap knees)
Chewin’ on my bubblegum (continue to slap knees.  At end, noisly chew bubblegum)
Playin’ with my yo-yo,
Do-whap, do-whap, do-whap, do-whap (move hand up and down like using a yo-yo)
When along came Herman the Worm
And Herman was this big (hold fingers up to show something a little bigger)
And I said “Herman, what happened?” (hold hands up as if to ask “what?”)
And Herman said “Duuuuuuh, I swallowed a mouse” (as you say Duuuh, bring head up slowly to look up, then do sign for mouse”)
“A mouse? Eew! Yuck!” (make yucky face)
But that silly Herman, he didn’t say another word (shake finger back and forth)
He just crawled away
So we have to use our hand to show how Herman crawled (make hand crawl)

Repeat by increasing size
I swallowed a kitty cat – use our arm to show how Herman crawled (make arm crawl)
I swallowed a dog – use both arms to show how Herman crawled (hook both arms to show crawling)
I swallowed a pig – use both arms like this to show how Herman crawled (hold both arms out to the sides to show crawling)
I swallowed a cow – use our entire body to show how Herman crawled (make head and upper body to show crawling)

So, the next day
I was sittin’ on a fencepost (slap knees)
Chewin’ on my bubblegum (continue to slap knees.  At end, noisly chew bubblegum)
Playin’ with my yo-yo,
Do-whap, do-whap, do-whap, do-whap (move hand up and down like using a yo-yo)
When along came Herman the Worm
And Herman, Herman was THIS big (hold hands out really far apart to show something really big)
No… he was only this big again (hold fingers up to show about an inch)
And I said “Herman, what happened?” (hold hands up as if to ask “what?”)
And Herman said “Duuuuuuh, I burped.” (as you say Duuuh, bring head up slowly to look up”)
(Everyone laugh. Then, say “Excuse me!”)
